MARTA ARPINI FOREST LIGHT

"Marta invites the listener into her world of experiences, her own charming microcosm; desirable, tender and heartfelt on the one hand, energetic, fresh and effervescent on the other."

Forest Light is the name of Marta's debut album and originally also of her quintet. The first line-up consisted of Eduardo Cardinho (PT) on vibraphone, Massimo Imperatore (IT) on electric guitar, Mauro Cottone (IT) on double bass and Giacomo Camilletti (IT) on drums.

Born in Amsterdam at the end of 2017 as an acoustic jazz quintet, the band developed a unique chemistry and an individual sound, connecting the musicians’ imagery and intensive playing.

The album "Forest Light", a collection of compositions that Marta wrote in 2016-2017, was recorded in January 2018 and released in October 2019 on the label Challenge Records International.

In June 2020 it was included as a contestant in one of the most prestigious Italian award for albums and songwriters, “Premio Tenco", in the category "best first work".

In November 2020 it was nominated to the Edison Jazz/World Award 2020.

Under the name "Marta Arpini Forest Light", the quintet – with Adrian Moncada (ES) on piano instead of Cardinho on vibraphone since the end of 2018 – has been featured in important competitions, events and festivals in the Netherlands and in Italy:

Keep an Eye International Jazz Award 2018, Crema Film Festival 2018, Uitmarkt 2018, Jazz at the Plantage 2018, Amsterdam Jazz Fest 2019, Rembrandt Festival 2019, Expression of Art Award 2019, Rough Diamonds Series at the Bimhuis 2019, So What's Next?
