MARTA ARPINI FOREST LIGHT
Forest Light is the band around Italian singer Marta Arpini. The quintet is in search of a unique and individual sound that connects the musicians’ imagery and intensive playing. They use Marta’s material to invigorate a special universe of deep enchantment. The group combines the suggestive atmosphere of the world of the songwriter with the interplay that characterizes the idiom of jazz, exploring iridescent colors and developing a quaint cross-over language, in order to tell meaningful stories through the purity of the “songs”.
Marta Arpini Forest Light has already been featured in many other important competitions, events and festivals: Keep an Eye International Jazz Award, Crema Film Festival, Uitmarkt, Jazz at the Plantage, Amsterdam Jazz Fest, Rembrandt Festival, Expression of Art Award, Rough Diamonds Series at the Bimhuis, So What's Next? Festival, Injazz 2020.
Marta invites the listener into her world of experiences, her own charming microcosm; desirable, tender and heartfelt on the one hand, energetic, fresh and effervescent on the other.
Forest Light's self titled debut album was released on Oct 4th, 2019 for the well known label Challenge Records International. In June 2020 it's been included as a contestant in one of the most prestigious Italian award for albums and songwriters, "Premio Tenco", in the category "best first work".

"A sort of tenderness embraces me when I listen to Marta Arpini. She doesn’t use the voice in an olympic way, like a lot, too many singers nowadays do, eventually resembling each other. She doesn’t; with her, it’s like she’s letting herself go to a spontaneous narration, a delicate and caressing stream, but always very much in tune. In fact I believe that not everyone could sing her songs. Her lyrics are delicate poems, with an intimate aura, never démodé. […] The musical genre is a very sophisticated and erudite cross-over. Explicit or in filigree, jazz is very present in each composition. The technical skills of each band member is simply admirable and functional to enhance Marta’s artistry."
